Xcel Energy becomes first utility to use drone tech to inspect energy infrastructure
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota-based Xcel Energy, a major power supplier in Colorado, announced it will be the first utility in the U.S. to routinely fly unmanned aircraft beyond the operator's line of sight to inspect energy infrastructure. Xcel said such inspections by drone technology will begin with inspection of transmission lines near Denver.
